I really like to get creative. Working with schools on their yearbook gives me the opportunity to help create a fun memorable book for years to come. I personally love the idea of making something that is going to be around for years.
I am a mother and grandmother who loves to take pictures and create family memories that will last a lifetime, just like a yearbook, you are creating memories that will last a lifetime, and my favorite part is when the schools receive their books and tell me how much the kids LOVE it!
My favorite hobby is crafting. I love to create fun memories to look back on for my family. When I heard about this position I thought to myself, “how fun would this be to help schools bring memories alive!” I love watching advisors grow and trying new things in the yearbook from year to year. I find myself in my demo book in my down time to think and create new ways for pages to share with my advisors. My favorite thing about the yearbook is the relationship I get to have with the schools and seeing/reading the “shoutout” messages that parents put in the yearbooks.
I grew up around yearbooks all my life. My dad started working at Inter-State when he was really young and he worked for the company for about 50 years. When I was asked if I would like a customer service job in yearbooks. I thought that would be really neat to help someone create their yearbook and then send it to my dad to have him put it together. It is very neat seeing the start of the project and then seeing the final product go out to my schools.
I am married and have 3 children and 4 grandchildren. I enjoy spending time with my family, going on vacation and landscaping/gardening. I have worked in the yearbook field for 10 years and my favorite thing has to be all of the great people that I get to meet and have worked with over the years.
Growing up as a kid, I remember our Yearbook Autograph days and how much fun it was going around and having all my friends sign the yearbook. I think this is why I enjoy yearbooks so much, the memories.
I have a degree in design and was on my high school yearbook staff (*20+ years ago!!). I love yearbooks and the memories that they contain. I still look through mine occasionally and want to help you create a book that will bring back the fun memories of school to your students in the decades to come.
My favorite part about the yearbook process is when I receive a sample copy as the books ship. Looking through the books and seeing how creative and fun some of these advisors can get is so amazing and definitely makes all the hard work throughout the year worth it.
